Propane Tank
Does anyone know where I can buy a soldering pot attachment to a propane tank?
These are used in the Sheet Metal industry. I believe they are made out of cast iron, they attach directly to a standard propane tank and allow you to have a flame to heat your soldering iron.
I haven't seen one of those for over 10 years...They used to actually be a replacement service valve and everything that we would install in a propane cylinder. It completely replaced the existing service valve. They were actually called a "Plumber's Pot". The problem is that propane storage and handling codes have changed, and as a result those valves were no longer legal. Valve manufacturers stopped making them back in the mid nineties.
So I think you are going to have to try and find a stand alone "appliance" that does the same thing...

Is it safe to bring a propane tank into high altitude?
I have a propane tank I use to make fried turkey and seafood boils. Its the large white ones normally seen on BBQs and in those rental areas outside stores. I want to bring it up to the mountains (high-altitude), but am concerned about pressure since my shampoo bottles tend to explode! Are these tanks safe to bring up? Those with camping experience please let me know. Thank you.
