My RV refridgerator cut off and the food spoiled for about 10 days. How do I get this odor out?
My RV refrigerator cut off while I was gone for 10 days. Everything spoiled and it had maggots inside. I have cleaned with Mr Clean and soapy water. I also added a box of baking soda to freezer and fridge. The smell is awful. Help!!
I cannot take it out. It is built in the cabinets..
take it outside & wash with hose & soapy bleach water, rinse very good, leave it out & open for a few days. wipe it down good with backing soda. hope it helps.

The Freedom You Achieve with a Truck Camper
Each year millions of campers leave the confines of their homes and neighborhoods and set off on a quest for the fresh air and open spaces of the great outdoors. But campers are no different than other vacationers, and the degree to which they escape the comforts of home can vary greatly. Some campers like to travel in their RV (recreational vehicle) in which they can enjoy all the comforts of home and then some! Some RVs have more amenities than many homes or hotels!
In contrast to the RV camper, some people truly like to rough it and live off the land as their ancestors did. For them a tent and fire provide their basic necessities, and the fun lies in getting away from modern creature comforts. However, not all campers are interested in staying in one place. Sportsman - like hunters or fisherman - or those who simply like to explore, need something different that will provide them with shelter, comfort, and mobility, and nothing fills that role like a truck camper.
A truck camper is a camper that rests securely in the flatbed portion of a pickup truck. Unlike an RV or pop up camper (a camper that is towed behind a truck or car), a truck camper allows you to bring a solid shelter with you in the smallest possible footprint.
Because it rests in a pickup truck, it can go just about anywhere a pickup truck can go. Back roads or the boulevard, parkways or national parks, a truck camper can go anywhere your heart desires. That is why these campers are the choice for the sportsman who seeks remote hunting or fishing grounds, or the campers who want to find their own campsite far away from the convention of the hardwired campgrounds.
Truck campers offer obvious advantages in their mobility, as well as lower gas mileage and lower profile than RVs or pop up campers. However, do not let their smaller size fool you, they can be incredibly well appointed and more spacious than one would imagine. Like all recreational vehicles, they range in size, features, and price.
Starting with a smaller and more basic model, one would typically find a truck camper that offers floor space that is roughly eight feet in length. While that may sound small, a well designed truck camper can pack a lot in that little space. You can expect to find that even the more basic, lower priced truck campers will have features like an ice box, a sink with hot and cold water, a stove top, Porta-Potti storage area, an outdoor shower with privacy curtain, a sitting area, and a generously sized bed. When combined with propane gas and water storage ability, even a basic truck camper can allow you to venture far from the beaten path without sacrificing comfort or ignoring any of your basic needs.
If you have a taste for things that are anything but basic there are truck campers for you as well. Deluxe campers can stretch to as much as twelve feet of floor length and have a list of features that you would expect to find on a full sized RV. How about a bathroom and shower, flat screen television with surround sound system, refrigerator and freezer, multiple burner stove top and oven, heating and air conditioning, and a queen sized bed? Yes, all of those things and more can comfortably fit in a first rate truck camper.
The truck camper that is best for you depends on several things. Your wants and needs, your budget, and most important, your truck; all of those factors will drive your ultimate decision. Some campers can not fit in the bed of smaller trucks, and some smaller trucks can not handle the weight of the largest truck campers (which can exceed three thousand pounds). Once you find a combination that meets your criteria then your destination is up to you! A truck camper is your key to anywhere you want to go, and you can go with as much style as your heart desires!

OK, you are going to buy an RV and you want the best deal possible. Whether it is a motor home, fifth wheel, or travel trailer, you know MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) is the baseline in establishing price and your goal is to pay 20% to 30% below MSRP.
If you are buying a used RV, you will be using NADA or Blue Book price guides and you should be aware these guides inflate their internet quotes approximately 10%. In addition, you are aware these prices are arbitrary and are to be used only as a guide.
You also know you'll save money by securing your own financing rather than using dealer financing and you know it is in your best interests to be wary of any other "add one's" the dealer may pitch you.
You are now in a position to secure a good deal on that motor home, fifth wheel, or travel trailer except for one tiny matter. You really do not know that much about RV's and even if you do very few recreational vehicle buyers know how to conduct a thorough inspection. In addition, take it from someone who works on them every day. You have no business taking delivery on any RV, new or used, unless you know exactly what you are getting.
As an RV technician, I have a number of guidelines in inspecting an RV and the first one is NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING! I work with many RV'ers six months to a year after they bought their RV's and I cannot believe what they are telling me. They are buying RV's knowing certain things are wrong and they think they will just live with it. It is not long before they tire of that. Let's face it. There are numerous facets involved on these little "houses on wheels" and considering what they cost today it is only prudent consumers do their homework before they take their RV home.
The biggest trap RV buyers fall into when buying a new RV is placing too much emphasis on the manufacturer's warranty. The manufacturers warranty is crucial but too many RV buyers take delivery on motor homes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers with problems that eventually "wear them down" as they continually drag their beloved RV back to the dealership to be repaired.
Anyone visiting an RV dealership or going to an RV sale should be aware of two things the RV Industry has mastered. The first is marketing their product and second is making it look good. Any RV owner knows appearance is only "wall panel and veneer deep" and there is more to inspecting an RV than pushing on cabinets and pounding on walls. If only it was that easy.
RV shoppers quickly discover there is no shortage of used RV's on the market. This should lead us to ask why. Through my experience, I have learned it is a combination of issues with the major one being buying the wrong RV. If RV "type" (motor home, fifth wheel, travel trailer, camper, etc.) is wrong you are doomed. RV size is almost as important as you have to be able to use it in the environment you want to RV in. The smallest RV is larger than most vehicles we are comfortable with so an adjustment is necessary whether driving an RV or towing one. The other issue is RV'ing (and RV maintenance) may not be what the buyer anticipated. Believe it or not RV'ing is not for everyone.
Considering an RV has three complete and individual energy systems (110V, 12Volt DC, and LP gas), chassis and frame considerations, quality check points inside and outside, an appliance system consisting of a refrigerator, water heater, furnace, stove and oven, a fresh water and holding tank systems, and more, analyzing an RV may seem overwhelming to you. The good news is there is a lot of information available to assist anyone willing to learn and I always implore RV'ers to avail themselves of this information and learn as much as possible. Anyone doing this will quickly realize it will be time well spent and more importantly, it can save you money...and lots of it. Happy RV'ing!
