my onan generator is very hard to start. It is a manual start 3500 it has compression, a new plug. compression?
what could be my problem ? after it finally starts it runs fine Thanks
You need three things for the engine to work. (Just like fire)
1. Air. Check the air filter. Clean or replace it. See if the engine starts easier with the filter removed. 2. Fuel. Check the fuel filter. Make sure the gas is fresh. 3. Heat. Is the spark weak or strong?
Combine the three with the right timing on the spark and it will run. Remove either one and it will shut down.
power Jack Looking for the power supply for an aftermarket aux jack for a 2004 Corolla?
Ok so I've decided to add an aftermarket auxiliary jack to my 2004 Toyota Corolla. Never mind that I've already lost two screws off of my radio now I have no idea where to plug in the auxiliary jack power supply. Its just a little red wire with a metal tip that doesn't look like it fits into anything. Also if you could give me an idea where the ground goes that would be helpful too. Thanks!!!
You need to get a splice to tap into a Constant On power supply wire.
The Tip doesn't go to anything because you need to add a Female Tap to plug your Male tip into.
Head down to the Auto Parts Store and ask them about it. They will know what you need and get it for you.
You don't need something that's going to plug into your Fuse Box. I'm sure that wire isn't long enough for that.

BT 3500 DECT phone has a power jack (at the base) that is similar to RJ11 jack. How to make it work in India?
i.e, There are two jacks in the base. One is RJ-11 and the other one is for power and this one also looks similar to the RJ-11 type with the lock at one end. I have the BT adapter but when connected, the base is not lighting up. Will I get a similar power adapter that suits India?
A UK power adapter will work, or at least should work, with a plug adapter for India.
I plan to create a massive food truck. I would like to know if it would be possible to power a food truck completely electrically. I would like to power several electrical appliances, commercial stoves, ovens, and refrigeration units, lights, air conditioning, water pumps and heaters. I have seen a converter system with sealed, deep cycle batteries on a massive motorhome/rv that plugged in to recharge, so i feel it may be done on a larger scale. I am just looking for a simple explanation of how this all works and what would be needed to power a massive food truck. If any electricians are viewing this please provide an explanation of how this could be done, thanks for any help...
what you're asking for isn't really possible given the technology that currently exists.
take the new Nissan Leaf for example; it's a small, basic car that runs completely on electricity, however, the Leaf only has a range of 70-100 miles and i've read a variety of reports that this figure is greatly exaggerated. a food truck is a commercial vehicle, you'd be driving this thing around to multiple places on a daily basis. any truck big enough to house all your cooking equipment is going to take a LOT of power just to get moving, which is the reason why just about any large truck is powered by a diesel engine. if you have a vehicle that weighs over 3 tons, you'd have to fill the damn thing with batteries just to move it down the road for a short period of time(let alone saving enough power to use the appliances for making food, as well as get you from place to place throughout a given workday).
my honest opinion is that this is a really bad idea. if you're out to make money by starting your own business, this is a HORRIBLE way to do so. even if it's possible, building a truck like this will break your bank and it'll be a long, long time before you break even and actually start making a profit.
there's other alternatives here. you sound like the environmentally-conscious type(who the hell else would conceive something like this?), and you need to understand that all that electricity has to come from somewhere. yes, an electric car has no emissions, but most of this country relies heavily on coal, natural gas, or nuclear power for electricity. your truck might not be polluting, but you'd still be sending waste into the environment just by charging it up. areas with hydroelectric and wind power are an exception considering their nature, but the majority of the country lacks this technology and still pollutes. honestly, can you imagine what would happen if everyone started driving electric cars? coal exhaust pollutes a hell of a lot more than carbon monoxide, at least the latter is invisible. imagine all that black smoke spewing into the ozone, not exactly a good idea for the environment.
have you considered bio-diesel? it's still impractical, but given the nature of your concept, you could probably create your own fuel supply. as a former diesel mechanic, i can tell you from experience that bio-diesel vehicles can(and will) clog up your injectors and virtually the entire fuel system. however, if you're willing to pay for the maintenance, it sounds like a much more feasible option compared to your original idea.

Scanguage II gives needed info
I bought the Scanguage II to enable me to monitor the Transmission Fluid Temperature of my Winnebago Rialta. It needed to be programmed from instructions I received elsewhere. The process of installing and programming was successful. The Scanguage has many more capabilities, and I use some of the installed gages. Without this device, I would not have any way to monitor my transmission. I am pleased with the unit. CheapestScanGauge II 3-in-1 Compact Multifunction Vehicle Computer With Customizable Display
A very useful product
I bought my ScanGauge for two reasons. First, I considered buying one for use in my RV to monitor mileage and some of the sensors. Second, I wanted to be able to monitor any codes from the on-board diagnostics (OBD).
After the check engine light came on during an RVing trip in April, it cost me $105 at a dealer to find out the OBD codes. The dealer was able to turn off the check engine light, because it was a minor engine malfunction, but I decided to buy the ScanGauge before the check engine light came on again. I ordered the ScanGauge with fast shipping, and it arrived at my house the next day (less than 24 hours later), which was very impressive from a distant shipping location. I hooked it up to my OBD port on the RV, and went on the next trip. Sure enough, the check engine light came on after several hundred miles, but this time I was able to read the codes and the status of the engine sensors at the time. I went back to the dealer and the dealer also read the codes, but now I was able to understand the problem better and be satisfied about the proposed fix for the engine problem. There are a lot of websites with helpful solutions for OBD codes, if you can read the codes, as with a ScanGauge.
The plus side is that the information and reset that cost me $105 at the dealer is now free using the ScanGauge. Don't get me wrong. The ScanGauge will help you understand the problem, but it won't fix it for you.
I am currently using the Scangauge to monitor daily fuel economy, current fuel economy, outside ambient air temperature, and engine water temperature on screen. These gauges are not available to me in the RV, and the ScanGauge provides the accuracy I want. This is a very useful product, and it provides a lot of peace of mind and information for a good price. I was extremely pleased with the superfast delivery. DiscountScanGauge II 3-in-1 Compact Multifunction Vehicle Computer With Customizable Display
Simple to use, Great functionality
The ScanGauge II has an excellent mix of functionality, simplicity, and price. Every other automotive computer I looked at that provided more features that the ScanGauge II would require programming to provide the simple functionality I wanted. There were several devices that provided some part of the ScanGauge II's functions, but combining them gets expensive fast. The ScanGauge II is spectacularly easy to install and use as well.
I bought a ScanGauge II for my Elantra. The trim of Elantra that I have has a very simple instrument cluster. It doesn't have a water temperature gauge, mileage indicator, or a trip computer. Just getting those things was worthwhile for me. I find that knowing my mileage in real time helps to keep my driving in check, knowing the water temp is helpful if there is a coolant problem, not to mention letting you know when the heater will work, and the trip computer is useful for planning rest stops.
Also, I have had issues with service indicators before, being able to troubleshoot them immediately and to clear them is a major plus.
I have been using ScanGauge II for a few months, it seems solidly built and I haven't encountered any bugs. I have heard a friend complain that the velcro adhesive strips included can melt on hot days, which could be a problem if you have the gauge suspended by the velcro. I haven't encountered this problem.
This is a worthwhile buy for nearly anybody, but especially someone like me with a very limited instrument cluster. SaveScanGauge II 3-in-1 Compact Multifunction Vehicle Computer With Customizable Display
Great Piece of Equipment
The ScanGauge II is everything it claims to be. I am more than pleased with the ease of installation and the variety of information that can be displayed. Since my vehicle is not factory equipped with trip computer functions, the ability to read instant and average fuel economy, coolant temperature, manifold absolute pressure, etc. is really appreciated. I'm a very satisfied customer.
