How can I get my motorhome generator powering my appliances properly?
I've inherited a 1990 dolphin las brisas motorhome. It has a "Generac" generator that is supposed to be capable of powering all of the appliances inside the RV. When connected to shore power everything works fine, A/C, microwave, fridge, water pump. When having only the generator attempting the same feat I get literally 0 results. I am at a loss as to what to do. I've gone over and done a full tune-up on the generator, I've played with all circuits/breakers I seem able to find and nothing shows even a trickle of power from the generator to the appliances and housing. Any ideas? There is no way that I can find to plug directly into the generator. The generator fuse is fine, all fuses I can find in the home are fine, the fuses on the converter are fine. No outlets work during generator time, no appliances. The generator itself runs fine. All 3 batteries are new including 1 truck battery and 2 housing. And the generator has worked and is wired properly.
can you plug something into the generator and it works?if it dont, replace the capacitor in the generator.if it has a rectifier board replace it and see what happens.oh but if it can power something plugged into it, id say you had a breaker for your shore power, and you cant use the generator when the shore power is working, so youve got to have another somewhere
