Why is the pipe and vent kit for my pellet stove going to cost me $887.00? Just purchased a Enerzone Bio-45 MF
I am having my pellet stove installed through a basement hollow cinderblock wall with 4" black pipe I was told it had to go up 4' once it got outside. My basement ceiling is 7' tall. I purchased the pellet stove for $2064.00 on sale from a reputable hearth and patio shop in my area. They told me instalation would be $400.00 and they would put together a price for the venting and pipe. I got a phone call the next day telling me that it would be almost $900.00! Just for the pipe and vent kit. I feel like I'm being ripped off. I also am having a hard time with getting prices from other shops. I have nothing to compare it to. I don't know a lot about this. I have 20 more days to get my money back. I called another company to ask if they would install and they said they would not if I did not purchase from them. We live in a ranch and have a wood burner in our living room. This is just to take the chill off the basement and help supplement our wood burner during the coldest months.
ok.....4" seems kinda small, 6-8" is the norm.
You must use triple wall whenever you breach a wall or a ceiling, which is quite a bit more costly than the black vent pipe.
You must also extend 4' above the highest point of your roof, not just 4' from where it exits the house.
So you must figure all that length of regular pipe, the 3' piece or triple wall where it breaches the wall, and all the way up 4' past the highest point of the roof, and any standoff brackets that will be nescessary to attach to the exterior wall of the house.
900 seems somewhat steep, but as you are having trouble getting a direct answer from other shops, you seem to be stuck with your current supplier.
You may try calling the local BBB for some help with another installer, or try calling some of the building contractors in your area and see who they use.
I assume this price also includes labor to install.
generator Gas How do you hook up a gas generator? I am thinking of buying a portable gas generator to provide electricity?
when the electricticy goes out. I live in an area that recently experiences an ice storm and we were without power for about a week. I want to get a generator that will deliver enough power to keep my furnace, major appliances and a few lights, etc. working. My question is, how is this generator hooked up to the furnace and other items? Run into fuse box. junction box? Does it come with extension cord/s? How is it hooked up...installed? Thank You
you will require a generator with a 220 outlet. have a 10/4 cord (also known as cab tire) made up with the proper male end for the 220, a junction box, and a male dryer cord/plug. all available at home depot for 50 bucks. assemble into one cord. most important!!!SHUT YOUR MAIN BREAKER OFF. then shut all individual breakers off. plug the male dryer end into your female dryer outlet. plug into your 220 on the generator and fire it up. turn on only the individual breakers that you want to power...not the main. you are now back feeding your panel and you will not suffer through a blackout. just be sure that the main breaker is off when you are running this way.

Home Standby Generator RS20A for whole house power backup by Cummins Onan
The company was incorporated in 1907 when funds were secured to begin construction of the Dayton Hollow Dam southwest of Fergus Falls. Once the dam came online in April 1909, the company transmitted power at 22kV over a 25-mile (40 km) line to serve the customers of the Northern Light Electric Company at Wahpeton, North Dakota.
Shortly thereafter, contracts were secured to provide power at wholesale to the cities of Breckenridge and Fergus Falls, MN (the latter after their own municipal utility's dam failed). After connecting Foxhome, MN to the system in 1912, the company connected or purchased electric distribution systems in 10 Minnesota towns (the most prominent being Elbow Lake and Morris, MN) and a second town in North Dakota (Fairmount) the following year. The first South Dakota community served by the company was White Rock in 1915. The company slowly grew to more than 100 towns served by the time the company reached Jamestown, ND in 1924. The company grew at an incredible rate over the next 5 years - reaching the Missouri River at Washburn in 1926 and approaching the Canadian border by 1928. By the end of the 1920s, the company's service area had tripled to serve more than 310 towns. During the Great Depression, the company was apparently not as badly affected as some of its neighbors but was still forced to focus more on survival than growth. By 1939, the worst was past and they were ready to move forward once more.
Between 1940 and 1944, Otter Tail added territory by merger or acquisition of 6 smaller power companies within or adjacent to its territory (these were all either companies that barely survived the Depression or were required due to passage of PUHCA in 1935). These purchases increased its territory to its present size of 50,000 square miles (130,000 km2) - about the same size as the state of Wisconsin. The one exception in this territory is the Red River Valley between Grand Forks and Fargo, ND - which was then and still is served by Northern States Power Company (now Xcel Energy).
After the final major acquisition in 1944, the company had reached its 'maximum system' of 496 towns served at both retail and wholesale. As the company matured over the next several decades, the number of towns served within the region would shrink (mainly due to towns served at wholesale changing suppliers and some smaller retail towns dying out). A few towns were added between 1944 and 1968 - the largest being the purchase of Fergus Falls' municipal utility in 1953 and the last addition being the transfer of several towns in Polk County, Minnesota from Northern States Power Company when their 33kV transmission line serving these towns approached its load limit.
A merger with Montana-Dakota Utilities was briefly explored in the late 1960s but was soon dropped due to all the regulatory hurdles involved. By the 1990s, flat revenues from the utility operations led the company to establish a subsidiary (Varistar) to acquire and oversee non-utility businesses. In 2001, the company changed its name to Otter Tail Corporation with the utility becoming a division within the company. In late 2008, the company completed a reorganization to move the utility operations into a separate subsidiary within Otter Tail Corporation.
Wind Power
Otter Tail Power Company owns 138 MW of wind generation, and purchases 45 MW emission-free, renewable wind generation for a total of 183 MW of wind power. By 2010 wind generation on the system is expected to be equivalent to 18 percent of retail sales. Owned wind resources and power purchase agreements for Otter Tail Power Company include: Luverne Wind Farm, Ashtabula Wind Energy Center, Langdon Wind Energy Center, and North Dakota Wind II.
Hydropower
Otter Tail Power Company generates 1% of its electricity from hydropower. In Minnesota there are 6 hydro plants: the Dayton Hollow, Hoot Lake, Pisgah Dam, Wright Dam, and Taplin Gorge, all of which are located near Fergus Falls on the Otter Tail River and the Bemidji located on the Mississippi River.

Gas Tank How do you disconect the fuel lines from the gas tank on a 91 Mercury Grand Marquis?
I am trying to remove the gas tank so I can use the car in a demolition derby. I have dropped the tank, but it is still dangling because the two fuel lines that go from the engine to the fuel pump are still connected. I have tried pulling and twisting as hard as I can, but I cant undo the connections. I would like to keep these fuel lines intact so I can still use them for the relocated tank.
Quick-connect (push type) fuel line fittings must be disconnected using proper procedure or the fitting may be damaged. There are two types of retainers used on the push connect fittings. Line sizes of 3/8 and 5/16 in. diameter use a hairpin clip retainer. The 1/4 in. diameter line connectors use a duck-bill clip retainer. In addition, some engines use spring-lock connections, secured by a garter spring, which require Ford Tool T81P-19623-G (or equivalent) for removal. You can get this at most Autozone stores. How Can You Remove a Dent From a Motorcycle Tank ?
Copyright (c) 2008 Steven Magill
You may be wondering, "How can you remove a dent from a motorcycle tank?" It's a good question, and one that has puzzled many people over the years. Specialists in this area of dent removal have got it down to a fine art these days. Their dent removal techniques are just like magic.
How can you remove a dent from a motorcycle tank? By going inside to push out, or by going outside to pull out, either way the dent gets removed.
Motorcycle gas tanks have their caps on the top, usually at the highest point. That way they can be filled to the maximum. Unfortunately, the gas caps on motorcycle tanks are not large openings.
Some motorcycle gas tanks are double skinned. It's a bit like having a tank inside a tank. This kind of gas tank makes it difficult to remove the dent from the inside as you will be applying pressure to the inside metal skin, and not the outside metal skin where the dent actually is.
However, if the tank has a single wall, or metal skin, then the job becomes very easy. Well, easy in the hands of an expert at least. The first thing done is to attach an object a bit like a flag onto the tank. This has a flexible mounting that can be adjusted to any angle, and at the end is a rectangular flag-like card with parallel black lines running the length of it on a white background.
This is a very clever idea. The "flag" is reflected in the shiny paintwork of the motorcycle gas tank. If the tank is in perfect factory condition, then the reflected black lines will all be smooth. If on the other hand the tank is dented, then the reflected lines will converge, balloon and be distorted where the reflected dent is. This is important!
As the dent is massaged and caressed from the inside, using a special tool designed for removing dents in motorcycle gas tanks, the reflected black lines in the region of the dent will become less and less ballooned and distorted. By the time the technician has completely removed the entire dent, the reflection will be smooth and perfect.
Of course, the actual surface of the motorcycle tank is constantly checked as well for smoothness. But the reflections of the black lines is arguably the best visual and actual guide as to the presence or otherwise of the dent. Properly performed, the dent will vanish completely and the repair will be wholly invisible. That's the mark of a good motorcycle dent removal - nothing left to see.
The days of answering the question of, "How can you remove a dent from a motorcycle tank?" by removing the tank, rubbing it down, or removing the paint with stripper completely, then applying filler, rubbing that down before re-spraying the entire thing has all but gone.
Today's expert technicians use paintless dent removal techniques. They attempt to leave the original factory paint exactly as it is. They also attempt to remove the dent with leaving a mark, and more often than not they succeed.

Gallon air I need an air pump for a 50 gallon fish tank?
I need an air pump for a 50 gallon fish tank. It seems that everywhere I look they only have pumps for 10 and 25 gallon pumps. Do you know of a reputable website that I can find what I want?
They carry dual air pump at walmart that is what I have in my 55 gal tank.
Anyone heard of the ProLine 11 gallon air compressor that's at Pepboys?
I noticed it's included in the black friday ads, and I know my boyfriend needs one. It's an awesome deal, but I can't find info on it anywhere, ya k now, reviews n stuff. Anyone know where I can find reviews? Or have you heard of the brand and know anything about it? I just don't want to waste my time and money if it's not worth it.
Thanks!!!!!
You get what you pay for. I'd HIGHLY recommend buying one from Sears instead. The compression seal is going to wear out, and you'll end up throwing the whole thing away, unless you go with Sears. They've got a GREAT service to get you any individual piece you need so you won't have to replace the whole thing, and that'll make it cheaper in the long run.
