Check engine oil . . . . Before each use
Change engine oil . . . After first 20 hours and then every 50 hours of operation
Clean air filter. . . . .. .Every 50 hours of operation
Clean spark plug . . . .Every 100 hours of operation
Clean spark arrestor . .Every 50 hours of operation
Oil Type. Use new good quality oil such as SC, SD, and SE grades. The oil to be used depends upon the temperature at which the engine is operated:
Summer: (temperatures of over 40 degrees F/10 degreesC) SAE 30 or SAE 10W-30, SAE 10W-40
Winter: (temperatures of below 40 degrees F/10 degrees C) SAE 20 or SAE 10W-30
The engine holds approximately 2/3 quart (18-20 ounces, 0.55 liters) of oil.
You essentially remove the cap and fill the crankcase to overflowing. There is no dipstick so the oil level must remain filled to the top where the cap screws in. I use 5W30 automotive oil in my generator, snowblower, and lawnmower. Don't go with the cheap store brand oils, get a good quality oil.
