Coleman generator Will a P4400 Kill-a-watt meter properly measure voltage and frequency from a coleman powermate gas generator?
I use my P4400 Kill A Watt for exactly what you suggest. The voltage reads slightly low, but it's the easiest technique for measuring the engine speed that I have. I have to plug it into an extension cord though.
I am trying to understand how much power this generator can have before I buy it. It is a Coleman 6250 maximum watts generator. If you have any clue, it would be appreciated. Thank you!
My generator is rated 5500 watts continuous, 6750 watts surge. During power outages it connects to a transfer panel to power selected circuits within the house. It will power the deep well pump, septic pump, several kitchen circuits including microwave and toaster ovens, lights in the kitchen, hallways, and bedrooms, furnace, fridge, and freezer. When connecting I ensure all circuits are initially turned off, then turn them on one at a time to prevent overloading the generator. Once it is up and running it's good for the day on a tank of fuel.
Visit these sites for sizing calculators to get an idea on what your generator can power.
When connecting don't use a double male cord or other techniques of backfeeding the main panel. Do not follow instructions to plug a cord into the stove or dryer outlet and turn off the main panel breaker. You should either use extension cords directly to each appliance or install a proper transfer panel. Other methods are dangerous and put the lives of line repair crews in jeopardy.
Coleman generator generator Is Coleman 5000 watts generator good?
Hi, Someone is selling me his Coleman 5000 watts generator for $150. don't know much about generator but know I need one for this summer because last year we had a black out and had to deal with the hot weather. Wonder if it's good and will it run a fan and household appliance? it's brigg and tratton engine. the guys say it's in good condition and only need to pull it 1 or maybe twice. It has elecrtric press START but battery is dead. That shouldn't be much to buy new battery right? he is selling it because he is moving out of state and doesn't want to take it along.
The engine is very noisy. It is a side valve engine which uses a small muffler. If you have neighbors nearby you'll be getting plenty of complaints.
I've operated my house during extended outages with a 5kW generator. It powers the well pump, furnace, microwave and toaster ovens, lights and so on, although not everything at once.
Sounds like a good deal and I think I'd go for it.
Read through my generator page for more information...

Coleman principle used to create free energy generator AMAZING DIY video tutorial
Till very recently, Cable had little or no competition from anywhere and new customers all selected Cable. Each day more and more people are subscribing to Satellite TV providers. Companies like DirecTV lead the way in luring customers away from cable companies. Because of technological advances, cable no longer holds advantages over Satellite.
DirecTV Satellite Service Gives you Access to Digital Local Channels
Up until the very recent past, only Cable services were able to offer local stations. However, that is no more. The same local channels are being offered by the satellite providers like DirectTV within their package. It is possible you'll be able to attain those local channels in High Definition if they are available in your neighborhood.
DirecTV High Speed Internet: The Complete Package
Additionally, high speed internet access used to only be offered through cab;le providers as a standard part of it's packaging. Satellite providers have turned to making the service more readily available to a broader area as well. Since there is no Cable Internet service in many rural areas, most residents are left with only a slow, dial-up connection. Satellite companies such as DirecTV can provide high speed Internet service regardless of where you live because that signal is being retrieved from the sky.
DirectTV Delivers Digital Entertainment Everywhere
Direct TV has started a trend where you can now take your dish on the road in an RV, and even when your on the water on your boat! There are many advantages to doing this. It keeps the kids entertained, it helps you to avoid missing your favorite shows or sporting events and it helps you to stay up to date regarding important news and weather information about the areas that you are vacationing in. Direct TV dishes are small nd can be easily transported anywhere, even boats and Rvs! Obviously, there is no way Cable can do this because their signal is only transmitted through a wire running into your home. That wire could only be pulled so far!
The Technological Advantages of DirecTV Leave Competitors in the Dust
The reliance on the open sky and not ground wires for signal reception is just one of the technical advantages that DirecTV possess. Those living in areas where the weather can become extreme will find that this is very beneficial to them. The power is often completely wiped out, along with any form of communication to the area, during these types of extreme weather conditions. This also means knocking out internet and television services. When power is out, it can take several hours or even days to restore it because of its inaccessibility under the ground. This is not the case with Satelite providers. When you lose power, the satellite and Internet signals are unaffected and are still transmitting. Once you have power, be it from the grid or generator, your satellite signal is restored as soon as your receiver is. The ability to retrieve important weather, news, and safety information and also communicate with friends and family depends on this.
16 Million Satisfied DirecTV Customers
One of the best ways to judge the quality of any product or service is by the people that are using it. In customer satisfaction, DirecTV consistently outperforms all cable companies. The number of customers they have is more than 16 million, and they are the number one Satellite Television provider in the nation. It's easy to understand why so many people are switching based on the numbers.

coleman powermate vantage 5000
Start the generator, use a voltage tester on the outlet/receptacle. If there is no power, reset the breaker. If still no power, take it to the repair shop. If the voltage is too high, take it to the shop. If it is too low and the generator is at full rpm, take it to the shop. Any repairs to the unit should be made by qualified professional personnel. Otherwise, fatal errors could occur.

Plug adapter for Coleman Powermate Convenience Cord?
We purchased a Coleman Convenience Cord which is 30 amps. Our generator is 20 amp and the plug does not fit. Does anyone know if there is an adapter that we can purchase to make this work?
electrical supply house might be able to help you, or a RV dealer might be able to help, was the 30 amp a 3 wire twist lock plug and the 20 amp a regular one,, you might even be able to just make up one with stuff off the shelf at a good hardware store, the right plug and recpticle, short chunk of good cord and a deep single gang bell box for the recpticle, worth a try..

how to separate a coleman generator rotor from engine?
Look! You have to look at it. there should be a coupler on the shaft from the engine to the generator, probably a 1/2 or 9/16 nut and bolt. Unbolt it and you got it. There may be a simple Safety Shield you may need to remove to see the shaft, probably 3/8 or 7/16 bolts there. Good luck and watch the Knuckles.
