Pro-chargers for a 454 TBI?


Ok so i have a 1991 chevy 1 ton that looks really nice. I want some more go...though. Superchargers you need the right set up and i don't really feel like drilling a hole in my cowl hood. Turbos need the right set up as well and alot of fine tuning. But what about pro-chargers thought. Are they good. WIll i have to rebuild my whole engine or can i slap it on and go. It is a throttle body 454 that i am pretty sure is pretty much stock. If you have your foot on the ground it usually shift between 4500 and 5000 RPMs so it might have an RV cam in it or something. I heard pro-chargers give about 60% more horse power but i don't really want to over haul my engine if it is needed. Just tell me a little bit about them. I want to learn so please help me out. Or point me to a website that will give me some more info. Thanks

The shift points have nothing to do with your cam.
If your not happy with the timing of the shifts a good heavy duty shift kit will be your best bet.
As for having to overhaul your engine,if your bottom end isn't 100% you'll have to take care of it before you can use any power adders.

campground rv electrical hookup?


I am going camping in a few weeks, and the campsite I got has electrical and water hookups for rv's. I have found adapters to convert the common 30 amp rv output to the 15 amp household outlet. Would i just be able to hook up my household electronics to it, say a phone charger, or will it be too much amps for it to handle and blow out whatever i plug in.

The 30 amp rating is how many amps the outlet can supply. Your devices will only use what amps they use and no more. You are good to go as long as you are not drawing more than 15 amps per outlet or 30 amps total. A phone charger uses less than 1/2 amp.

RV Solar Panels

If you own an RV, or thinking of buying one, one investment you might consider is a set of RV Solar Panels. They can greatly extend the amount of time you are able to spend camping with the full benefits of electricity. Once the panels are installed, you will not only be able to enjoy longer stays in your RV, but you'll be doing the planet great service by using solar power as a clean energy source.

When solar panels installed are installed in your RV, you rely less upon generators or batteries to power the lights and other electrical devices in your recreational vehicle. Some RVs can then stand on their own, without connecting up to external power sources.

How Solar Power Works in an RV

RV Solar Panels are photovoltaic panels that convert solar energy into direct current. These panels are connected to an inverter, which turns the direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC). AC is the type of electricity you normally get from a home wall socket. You can use this electricity to power the equipment and appliances inside your RV - making it possible for you to spend several days away from RV camps. And there is no need to use a noisy generator to power up your RV.

Types of RV Solar Panel Kits

There are various types of RV solar panel kits available on the market today. Their outputs range from 50 watts to 440 watts. Their overall capacity will depend on a several factors, such as how much power you'll need, and for how long you will need it. If you will only be out on the weekends, you won't needs as much power as you might need if you live in your recreational vehicle for long periods of time.

You can make a rough estimate of what your total power consumption will be, by reviewing the equipment you will use in your RV, how many watts each item uses, and the duration of use of each item. The more power you use, the more RV solar panels you will need to purchase. An electrician might be able to help you with a power computation.

The type of RV solar panel kit that is right for you will also depend on the weather in your region. The solar panels will need sunlight in order to provide electricity. A system with an inverter and a built-in charger makes it possible to store energy in batteries, and then use that energy as a power source on days when no sunlight is available. Systems that aren't set up this way can run out of power in bad weather.

RV Solar Kits

RV solar panels are usually available in DIY (do-it-yourself) kits. These kits typically include the following:

  • The actual solar panels
  • Mounting structure
  • Charge controller
  • Fuses
  • Output wires
  • Intermodal cables.

If your energy requirements increase after you have installed solar panels on your RV, you can usually simply add additional panels. If you aren't comfortable with installing the system yourself, you can ask the retailer of the RV solar kit to refer you to an installer. There are several installation centers across the United States.

Is there a battery powered inverter that exists?


I'm looking for something like a regular car inverter for my AC appliances... a lamp, laptop, radio, etc...

But is there something like an inverter that can be plugged into the wall at night, charged up like a laptop battery, then removed and placed where you need it? Basically a battery powered inverter. Or if anyone knows how I could somehow hook up several laptop batteries to an inverter and make my own.

check out Sam's Club, Costco, WalMart, NAPA, AutoZone, Advanced Auto for a 12v battery "jumper kit".

Some come with a small 150w inverter. I bought mine at Sam's Club. It has a 12v 17AH Gel Cell inside, jumper cables, and an inverter.

You can put 12v batteries inside a 50cal ammo can with an inverter and have the same thing.
