Definitely. I guess somehow they feel that it will make it sound chic!
Seven years ago. when our conventional water heater stopped working, we replaced it with a tankless water heater. The inital cost was a little more than what we would have paid for a conventional water heater. We were happy to do so as we were looking for a way to reduce the space the standard water heater required.
The two biggest benefits we saw were never running out of hot water and a significant decrease in our electric bill. As soon as the tankless heater was installed, our electric bill dropped $30 – $40 a month. The tankless heater paid for itself very quickly.
We have since moved to a home with a conventional water heater. With growing children that have moved from taking baths to taking showers, hot water is a rarity for the last person to get in the shower (which is usally me). There have been many times I have wished for and missed that tankless water heater.
When the time comes to replace our current water heater, I'm voting for going the tankless route again.
