Smaller fridges in Britain?

Watched a few "BritComs" on TV lately and noticed when they show a kitchen, the 'fridge is always way small, like you see in an RV. Is it common in EU to have smaller food refrigerators? Can't get more than a couple days perishables in them, I'm used to 26 CuFt where you can get a months groceries in there! Anyone know?

I don't know, maybe that's why america has an obesity problem.
Bigger fridg's mean more food. and less exercise.

Can I use regular household appliances rather than RV appliances?

I am going to be converting an old school bus into an RV-type vehicle for my family and I to travel in. I am trying to keep costs down as much as possible, and have found that RV appliances are a little pricey. Can anyone (especially someone with RV experience, please) tell me whether or not I can buy standard household appliances (stove, refrigerator, etc.) in place of RV appliances. If I do are there any drawbacks, etc? Also, I will most likely be using a combination of solar and wind power as my main energy source--would there be any additional info I would need to know?

The biggest drawback to using household appliances in your converted school bus is that they are not designed to be operated on the power sources you will have available while driving.... That is 12V DC electricity, or propane gas.

RV refrigerators are normally "dual-fuel" appliances that can operate equally well on propane gas or on 12V DC. Your average household fridge needs 120V AC electricity, so you would not be able to use it while on the road. Household refrigerators also have cooling coils that may not hold up to the vibration experienced in an RV as it is traveling down the road.

You could use a gas range in your bus, but you would have to convert it from natural gas to propane. A household range would take up a lot of space in the relatively small RV kitchen. I would suggest using a 2 or 3 burner gas cooktop, and a 12V microwave oven for your cooking needs.
