how do i get to the oil filter on an rv onan generator?
There are oil filter clamps which attach to the end of the oil filter and provide a 3/8 inch square hole for a socket wrench. There are also belt type wrenches which will perform a similar function. Visit your local auto parts store and talk to someone at the counter. They should have what you need.

was does my rv generator cutoff only after 15min?
my rv generator turns on fine and even runs great but after 15min it cuts off...why? what else can i check?
I am assuming the engine that drives the generator is shutting down.
Some simpler things to try might be blowing a fan into the compartment where the generator resides, or turning off all the electrical devices drawing power from the system. These tests should indicate if the system is overheating or if the current draw is excessive. A check of the fuel filter might be appropriate as well.
If no success there, read on.
If you don't have a service manual, get one. If you do have one, try this.
Check those things required for the engine to operate. Air, fuel and ignition. I would put special emphasis on ignition because that is the easiest to interrupt. Now look for the safety devices that will shut the engine down if it gets too hot as a result of decreased cooling air, too heavy a load, or any other reason. Once you find the safety device that is shutting things down you must determine whether or not it is acting as it should. That is to say is it faulty and causing the problem or is it sensing a real problem, interpreting it correctly and shutting the system down.
Good luck. Unless you are lucky this sort of problem can take some time to diagnose.
