if i idle my truck with my 70amp alternator charging the battery can i use my 1600peak 800 watt continuous inverter to power my rv air conditioner?
No way. Even if you had a 3000 watt converter it would not be enough to run you RV air conditioner.

I assume you just put this unit on a site? you may not have enough power (amps) getting to unit. take your multi-tester and check the amps going to the unit, check the required amount.
