Can a person convert a gasoline powered car over to to natural gas or propane?
Can you buy conversion kits and where and if so would it be a financal benefit?
Plenty of conversions to LP or Propane- home farm had a GMC pickup with a 350 engine converted to LP. In Madison ,Wi area the American Dual-Fuel outfit has various conversion kits for many engines- some are a little trickier to convert than others. One taxi company here runs the cabs on Propane fuel, Cenex suppliers have a conversion service for some engines. LP tank replaces gas tank sealed lines go to heat exchanger to convert the Liquid Petroleum to gaseous state and vapor carburetor used on some. The new fuel injection units spray the liquid state fuel into the port area like gasoline- the heat exchange is more of a inlet air preheat over exhaust manifold unit and a heat shroud over injector pump area. Main financial benefit is when there is low cost LP or Propane- or CNG- available compared to gasoline. BTUs of LP about 2/3 of gasoline, does burn clean so oil change intervals extended, pollution laws easier to meet for some vehicles compared to gas burners. ..

Does my Maytag Neptune gas dryer need a conversion kit to go from natural gas to propane?
We are moving to a rural location and I need to know if I will have to buy a conersion kit to go from natural to propane gas.
The straight answer is “Yes”, it will need to be converted.
Once you get out to your rural location, get out the yellow pages and start going through all the propane companies. Don’t just stop with the one that has the best price per gallon. Usually the best price per gallon comes at the expense of not having qualified service technicians that can convert your appliances. To ensure its done correct have the propane company order and install the kit, they may even give you a discount as a new customer. A dryer conversion is not a job the average homeowner should take on, it’s a bit more involved than just changing an orifice.
