No. The ignition coil is the source of the spark energy required to ignite the air fuel mixture in the cylinder. The spark plug wires is what connects the distributor to the spark plugs at the cylinder. The coil provides the spark to the distributor which then, by name, distributes the spark to each cylinder in the proper firing order via the spark plug wires.
