Norcold Refrigerator My RV Refrigerator stopped cooling. What should I check?
The freezer is cooling somewhat but the refer isn't cooling at all. The model is a Norcold 1200LRIM. Please help!
There isn't a defrost heater on a Norcold 1200 Refrigerator, however, it does go into a defrost mode. The defrost mode is run by the Thermistor and simply turns the refrigerator off (both the freezer section and fresh food section) until the Thermistor temperature raises to a certain degree.
If your freezer is cooling but your fresh food section is not then I would imagine you have a problem with the ventillation in one way or another. You have two fans on the rear of this model that blow air across your condenser fins at the top. These fans will kick on when the thermostat reaches 138 or your outside ambient temp is 80-85+. The air flowing across your condenser fins is what allows the Ammonia Solution to flow through the cooling unit. Poor air flow = poor circulation = a working freezer and not working refrigerator box. I recommend taking your vent covers off and making sure that your fans are operating. If this is NOT temperature related then there must be a blockage in the cooling unit somewhere and you would have to replace that.
