how to change the struts/shocks on a mazda rx8?
hey i just found out my left strut is broken, and all the gas leaked out. so i just picked up 2 front struts and i dont know if its something i can do at home, or if its involed and should just bring it to a shop. how do i change them? and is it easy? im pretty good with cars...
Go to Autozone.com and register, click "repair info", select your car, and click "View Repair Guide". It's all right there for free, including an exploded view. Under "Suspension"-"Shock Absorber". You'll need the spring compressor, and a fairly complete set of metric tools, and have an alignment done afterwards.

What is the TRUTH !?! about replacing shocks,struts, fuel filters ?
I just want the NO bull good advice for replacing those things !
Monroe says replace shocks/struts at 50,000 miles, while mechanics and dealerships talk you out of it ? Or they say, meh, not til you see fluid leaking out of it. WHY NOT !?! How about the purpose of SAFETY, handling and having my car ride like it used to !
And how about maintenance schedules and dealerships that don't replace the Fuel Filter until 100,000 miles !?! WHY NOT ?! If I had my way I'd replace it once a year with the price of gasoline and all the crap knocked into the gas station tanks.
When is best to replace them ? Seriously.

yeah it's the dodge neon and i think it has only 1 fuel filter.
Don't worry about shocks or struts until your car start bouncing! They don't affect safety much. I actually like worn shocks because worn shocks make my car have a smoother ride. Follow your maintenance schedule for fuel filters. Some cars actually turn on the service engine light when it is time to replace the fuel filter (such as the 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee). I change my oil every 5,000 miles. You have to understand that companies like Monroe are in the business to make money.

I'm sorry you are having to go through this. I know how hard it can be to leave your baby and go back to work. If your daughter is crying like this with everyone except you it may be that she just isn't use to the sitter yet and that she wants mommy. Have you tried taking something that she loves to the sitter with her like her favorite blanket? Another suggestion would be to maybe give the sitter a shirt that you wear that way when the baby isn't calming down she can try laying her on the floor next to your shirt (your daughter might be able to smell your scent and be comforted by that). You could even do a trail run of that with dad. And yes babies do know their mother's scent as well as their voice. I have breastfed both of my kids and my daughter seems (especially around that age) much more attached to me. I'm glad to hear that you have started introducing the bottle and the sitter to her before you actually have to go back to work. I would try to nurse and then pump to try and increase your milk and if you give her bottle then try to nurse after pumping. Breast pumps can't empty the breast like a baby can and that will probably help with the milk supply as well. As far as cereal goes…I would try to wait until she is at least 4 months. I ended up giving my son cereal when he was almost 4 months, but it was always a hit and miss thing and the only reason I started him so early was because I had to go back to work and he refused to take a bottle. He would go about 7 hours without eating. Lucky for me he was a really happy baby and he didn't seem affected by not eating at all. Hope that helps a little and Good Luck!
