Diesel generator Set
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to convert a fuel or diesel power generator set into using ethanol?
Using ethanol as alternate fuel
it is possible to run a gasoline vehicle on ethanol easily. the only serious consideration is the rubber gaskets and hoses and such. ethanol is bad for rubber. if the engine isn't rated for ethanol, there may be a conversion kit.
diesel enginess won't run on ethanol.

Any Air Conditioning experts out there?
Hello. we are installing a Diesel Generator for running our house. We are off grid. We are buying a Cummins 15 KVA/12KW Prime Power Generator. This generator can supply 23 Amps per phase in the standby mode with a PF of .8
With the normal set up, we can run only 3, single phase 18,000 BTU ACs, one on each phase.
I read somewhere that by installing Power factor Capacitors, we can install more than one AC on each phase.
Do you know anything about that? Is it an easy task or do I need to get an engineering degree for this? I'm some what comfortable with doing electrical work and can do minor calculations as well.
Any help would be really appreciated.

HVAC Tech.: You need an electrical engineer to solve this problem as it does not fit into Heating, venting, or air-conditioning.

I once had a tutor who was a world expert on solar power, he confided to me that “The only profitable thing to do with solar power is to write books about it”. It seems he may have been wrong.BTW, when they close or upgrade a telephone exchange, BT often give away well maintained, lightly used diesel generator sets. I don’t understand why they have no second hand value, but they have nowhere to store them for future re-use and its cheaper than paying someone to take them for scrap. I understand that many of the diesels end up driving boats in the developing world.
Some have safety fuses or circuit breakers to safeguard Voltage spikes. Check also for a switch which enables the generator once the deisel moter has been started.
