how would i check the voltage regulator on my generator and capacitor?

Start the generator, use a voltage tester on the outlet/receptacle. If there is no power, reset the breaker. If still no power, take it to the repair shop. If the voltage is too high, take it to the shop. If it is too low and the generator is at full rpm, take it to the shop. Any repairs to the unit should be made by qualified professional personnel. Otherwise, fatal errors could occur.

Plug adapter for Coleman Powermate Convenience Cord?
We purchased a Coleman Convenience Cord which is 30 amps. Our generator is 20 amp and the plug does not fit. Does anyone know if there is an adapter that we can purchase to make this work?
electrical supply house might be able to help you, or a RV dealer might be able to help, was the 30 amp a 3 wire twist lock plug and the 20 amp a regular one,, you might even be able to just make up one with stuff off the shelf at a good hardware store, the right plug and recpticle, short chunk of good cord and a deep single gang bell box for the recpticle, worth a try..
