it depends on the engine size its either a 4 cycle or 6 cycle oil. get the model number from the generator and go to sears.com enter the model and it will tell u

how to separate a coleman generator rotor from engine?
Look! You have to look at it. there should be a coupler on the shaft from the engine to the generator, probably a 1/2 or 9/16 nut and bolt. Unbolt it and you got it. There may be a simple Safety Shield you may need to remove to see the shaft, probably 3/8 or 7/16 bolts there. Good luck and watch the Knuckles.

Eric, as a fellow member of the wet basement brigade (though not this time, thankfully) I extend sincere condolences.
After a near calamity a couple Aprils ago – serious damage averted only by a Coleman generator and a lot of spare gasoline – we decided to install a permanent standby generator.
It's worked so well the power hasn't gone out once since we installed it. Powerful juju.
