Why do American soldiers rape their own?
According to Department of Defense statistics one in three women soldiers are raped or sexually assaulted by their own colleagues.
Women Veterans groups describe how some women are coerced by higher ups to use their bodies to obtain food or generators out in the field, as part of “command rape”.
In 2003, three women died in their beds of dehydration because they had stopped drinking in the 50-degree heat late in the day for fear of going to the latrine at night. Camp generators were so loud they would muffle the sound of women’s screams as their own soldiers jumped them and dragged them to the Port-a-Johns to be assaulted.
Why is it only American soldiers that do this to their own and why do male soldiers rape their female comrades? Is this what happens to men in the field? Is it basic male nature? It seems endemic among American male soldiers, why?

According to the FBI there are a few types of rapists. Some are sadists, and that's what they like to do, and plan it, very carefully. But quite a few rapists do it because they have the opportunity to get away with it, and I would assume in a war zone, with violence and death a way of life, there'd be a lot more opportunities to isolate victims and subdue them, whether they are male or female, friend or foe. Not all ppl take the opportunity to victimize others, but it only takes a few violent ppl, to rape, batter or murder a number of others around them, and get away with it.
